I used to write posts like a press release. "Braingineers is proud to announce..."
They flopped. Every single time.
Why? Because of Narrative Transport. This is a psychological state where a person becomes immersed in a story. When you are in this state, you are more likely to be persuaded and to remember the message.
Facts do not trigger Narrative Transport. Struggle does. Conflict does. Resolution does.
To fix this, I started using a framework common in job interviews: The STAR Method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It turns a boring update into a mini-movie.
The 'SaaS Storyteller' prompt
Use this prompt to turn a dry business update into a story that people actually read.
The Prompt:
"I have a business update below. It is too dry and factual. I want you to rewrite it as a mini-story using the STAR framework.
1 - Situation: Describe the painful problem or context we started in.
2 - Task: Explain what we needed to solve and why it was hard.
3 - Action: What specific thing did we do? (Focus on the struggle/effort).
4 - Result: The happy ending or the data.
Make the tone personal and humble. Start with the problem, not the solution.
Update: [Paste Update]"
The shift
Instead of "We launched a new dark mode," you get:
"Our users were complaining about headaches. We realized our bright white dashboard was hurting eyes during late-night work sessions (Situation). We knew we had to fix it, but redesigning the whole UI was a nightmare (Task)..."
See the difference? One is a feature. The other is a journey.
